A TIM BURTON Style wedding!

October 2011 was a very busy month for me. Not only was I shooting my normal fashion work at my studio but I was booked for two big weddings and I was very excited to get some new wedding work in my portfolio. During the week of Halloween, I was asked to shoot a somewhat alternative ala Tim Burton style wedding. I was booked a year ago for this gig and I was counting down the days for this marvelous creative day!

October 29th started out with a massive snow storm, noone saw this coming, well maybe the weather man but everyone was optimistic that it might just pass over and not be as significant. It snowed 8 inches in Doylestown, PA that day, enough to tear down power lines. Noone was expecting the venue to be out of power but it was! The venue was the very gorgeous and historical Aldie Mansion. The bride and I came up with a game plan to shoot all the traditional stuff first while we still had daylight. Needless to say, I have never shot a wedding with no power but thankfully I had brought my battery pack for my lights with me. Even the video guy became my friend that day.
As the day turned into night my creative mode had to kick into full gear. I was only allowed to plug in one of my lights into the DJ's booth while the other one ran on my battery. Well we all know batteries only last so long right?! So it was a battle of charging and switching the lights on the one plug source I had for the rest of the night. I saw the lighting issue as no challenge. Afterall, this was a Tim Burton style wedding. My lighting was definitely moody and highlighting all the essential moments the bride requested. She was a true champ, had I been in her shoes, I was have turned into an instant Bridezilla!

The images depict a dark alternative themed wedding but in a very elegant kind of way. Here are some of my personal faves from that day.
